JOB OPENING
EARLY CHILDHOOD PRESCHOOL TEACHER WANTED
This 40 hour/week, year round, direct care position carries responsibility for the following areas of work, understanding that the work at Sophia’s Hearth Family Center is carried collaboratively as a team with mutual respect and communication with one another in support of our individual tasks.
-Responsible for planning, implementing and guiding the caregiving and other aspects of daily life for a group of children ages 3 to 5 years. Daily activities include caregiving, guiding play, artistic and domestic activities, both indoors and outdoors.
-Maintains the classrooms in a clean and organized manner.
-Works collaboratively with co-workers in all aspects of the program’s work.
-Establishes and maintains respectful and supportive relationships with parents.
-Responsible for following all State of New Hampshire childcare guidelines for safety, health, and care.
-Responsible for providing supervisor, and to keep updated, all required documentation for employee's file.
-Be committed to ongoing training in Sophia's Hearth Family Center professional development programs by attending at least one workshop/course per year.
-Ultimate responsibility for all children and program staff during any emergency.
-Responsibility for the daily operation of the program and ensuring the program compliance with NH licensing

18 credits in Early Childhood Education
First Aid & CPR Certification

The Executive Director of Sophia's Hearth should recognize and respect our past successes while applying and developing our philosophy and approach, allowing us to reach new heights in the years to come.
About Sophia's Hearth
Founded nearly 20 years ago as a non-profit organization, Sophia’s Hearth has been a North American pioneer and leader in Waldorf early childhood education. Sophia’s Hearth draws from Waldorf education and the Pikler philosophy in working with young children and families while providing three distinct but complementary programs: full time early education for infancy through preschool, parent-child classes, and a WECAN recognized Waldorf training for early childhood teachers.
Position Summary
The Executive Director oversees all Program Directors, the daily operations, and ensures that all programming is in alignment with the Sophia’s Hearth vision and mission. The Executive Director is responsible for:

Assisting the Board of Directors in the creation and implantation of a strategic plan to ensure the future success of Sophia’s Hearth;
-
Inspiring innovations from the Program Directors and supporting their implementation;
-
Marketing, Communications and Development;
-
Developing and monitoring the organizational budget;
-
Other administrative and operational tasks as needed
Ideal Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred;
-
Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience;
-
An approachable and hands on leadership style;
-
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
-
Capacity for setting and achieving goals;
-
Polished verbal and written communication skills;
-
Passion for “discovering the wisdom of childhood”;
-
Experience with Waldorf Education, Early Childhood and/or Non-profits preferred
