Potomac Crescent Waldorf School is seeking lead teachers for 5-day Mixed Age Kindergarten and 3-day Preschool Classes for the 2021-2022 school year. The classes have healthy enrollment and experienced assistant teachers, and we expect to add a 5-day Preschool class for the 2022-2023 school year.
We are a vibrant Waldorf school in historic Old Town Alexandria. While we have been in Northern Virginia for 20 years, we are moving into our long-term location on the banks of the Potomac River and are excited to start a new chapter in our school’s history. The parks in our neighborhood have a view of Washington, D.C., across the river.
Our early childhood teachers are a strong part of our faculty circle and participate in weekly full faculty meetings and early childhood meetings. We value pedagogical study and discussion in both groups. We support Waldorf conference and professional development opportunities as much as possible by offering paid leave and financial assistance.
Ideal candidates will have a confident classroom presence with strong social and communication skills, the ability to work cooperatively with other teachers, and a love for children and teaching. We are seeking candidates who have completed Waldorf Early Childhood training at a WECAN-accredited teacher preparation program or are enrolled in a WECAN-accredited teacher preparation program and are receptive to mentoring. Enrolled candidates who make a three-year commitment to PCWS may be eligible for financial assistance towards completion of their training program.
